Lucia Porto, Visual artist, experimental, lives and works in S. Paulo, works in institutional, alternative and urban spaces with large-scale works, using spaces as a support. It explores matter, raw, primal, primordial. It unveils the creative and imaginative universe that an object brings intrinsic to its essence without necessarily changing the shape, but changing the human perception of it.
With a visual plastic work, it investigates through philosophical and scientific literary references (paleontology, archeology, medicine) objects or fragments of urban society, simple pieces of an everyday script can originate a complex and thought-provoking whole where objects or fragments are transformed into unique objects. and multiplicative in the union of bastard materials with the noble, displaying in this posture the seduction and fascination in the dialectic of opposites, displaying not only a work but an aesthetic project with an entirely personal brand in its sculptures, installations and scenes.
It has works in several collections and museums, such as MAM Museum of Modern Art of S.PAULO, collection of the Government Palace of S.Paulo, Sculpture Garden and collection of the Legislative Assembly of S.Paulo, yazigi collection, Museu do Esporte do Olympic center and others.
TOWARD A NEW LOOK
Lúcia Porto makes use of materials, prime, primary and primitive. She unmasks the creative and imaginative Universe, intrinsic to an object in its essence, nor necessarily changing its shape, but rather changing the human perception of it.
The search for a specific identity by taking an unobvious look into the obviousness of the object permeates all of this artist’s works. Lucia’s look at the world and the objects around her is not the same as those seen by the large majority. Those looks focus on journeying through the myths and building new shapes out os old ones. The eloquence of her fine arts discourse is an invitation to all to transform paradigms. It cause us contemplate objects as fragments os urban society, simple parts of routine life, which give rise to an entire complex os objects and events both remarkable and original. This new look can lead us to pull away from our pre-established concepts, which limit our vision and simulate us to experience an offbeat reality.
Aligned to Duchamp, Lúcia collects objects and transforms them into metaphors os her reveries and lets us adopt them as our own.
